Dear
Customer:
Effective
on February 1, 2004 Guilford Rail System / Springfield Terminal Railway will
significantly change the way demurrage is charged at all stations on ST. ST has issued its new Demurrage Tariff
(ST6004) in order to simplify the process by which demurrage is assessed while,
at the same time, providing ST with a basis for cost-effective management of
its fleet of cars as well as other railroad cars and private cars.
The
intent of our new demurrage tariff is to provide you with a simple, more
flexible tool to assess your demurrage costs.
Some of the changes are outlined below:
·
Demurrage day equals calendar day.
·
All customers assumed to be Open Gate unless ST is advised
otherwise. Open Gate means that actual
placement will constitute notification.
·
Two (2) credits earned for each empty release.
·
One (1) credit earned for each loaded release.
·
Allowance days will be automatically deducted from demurrage
days.
·
Weekends are treated as regular days (See Item 80 for
Holidays).
·
Daily demurrage is $60.00.
Cars
released to the railroad after January 31, 2004 will be subject to the new
demurrage provisions as published in ST6004 regardless of when said cars were
originally placed or constructively placed.
For
you convenience, the new demurrage tariff ST6004 will be available on our
website ST6004Demurrage.pdf.
If
you have any questions or comments on these changes or this new demurrage
tariff please direct them to the undersigned or to your Account Manager / Sales
Rep or to ST’s Director of Stations Bruce S. Nelson (978) 663-1080.
