David Holladay met Caryn Navy on October 14, 1971 when they were freshmen at MIT. Caryn let David borrow her Perkins Brailler over Thanksgiving 6 weeks later. David wanted to produce a table of integrals (a key part of their math textbook which was omitted in the braille edition). But first he needed to learn some Nemeth Code. Caryn spent about 20 minutes on this subject, and David took notes. This is the actual single page of notes from this episode. Caryn still has the table of integrals (it is somewhere in the attic).
