Books: "ProDOS Workbench"
After ProDOS had been out for a few months, Apple created the Workbench, a short three-ring notebook released with the Apple Edasm (editor and assembler) package, making it possible to begin creating machine language software for the new operating system. The reference material was much more advance than the ProDOS BASIC manual, and made it possible to access ProDOS disk volumes from assembly language programs or routines created to be called as subroutines from Applesoft.
