Peripherals: "Hayes Micromodem II"
The first modem I had experience with. The original model operated at, I believe, both 110 and 300 baud (compare that with 28,800 and 56,000 baud of today's fastest standard modems). This included both the peripheral card that plugged into (usually) slot 2, and the external box (the one labeled "Microcoupler" in the picture), where the phone line was attached. Actually, I did use one modem older than this, one of the types where you had to put the telephone handset into a cradle where microphones and speakers would whistle at each other to communicate telephonically. The Hayes Micromodem was amazing because it worked directly with the phone line! Ooooh!
